Home Is Where the B.A.R.T. Is (Hold Up, Wait a Minute, Put a Little Love In It!)

We got home last night at around 10:30pm. The drive was fairly smooth and uneventful. Quite the opposite of the days that preceded it. The days that led up to the uneventful drive home were filled with poorly played basketball, me blowing up a Nissan Armada, 110 degree heat, lightening, and Mr. Tumnus. I shall explain the latter before elaborating on the former. One morning when we woke up, after spending the night in the magical air-conditioned house that Mel and I crashed in, Tony and I attempted to wake my brother up who was sleeping on the couch. He was shirtless and looked a bit like something out of Narnia. So henceforth he was known as Mr. Tumnus. He loves it. Though Nissan Armadas look tough and manly, they are in fact made of feathers, flowers, perfume and silk. I was driving it from the Rez to Flagstaff when it decided to stop working. It died. We realized that the transmission gave out and luckily it wasn't my fault. But we stayed the course. Things worked out. Basketball camp was a lot of fun too. It was extremely tiring but a great experience. I lost almost 10 pounds this week which was funny. I loved coaching alongside Tony, Matt Pine, Chad, Josh Moog, and the girls. Angela, Irene, and Meghan tried to pester me and were pretty sure that they drove me nuts, but truth be told, they worked hard and were a lot of fun to be around. Just don't tell them I told you that! Melissa did so well on the trip. I was so impressed with her and was reminded (not that I needed to be) about how strong her character is. She is so tough, yet still a pretty cute girl. Quite impressive. She She worked hard this week and our baby will be that much stronger for it. He told me that he enjoyed the Rez and looks forwarding to slaughtering a sheep there one day. What a stud! Mel's kids club family really wants her to bring the baby out there next year. We'll see what happens! I am so thankful that God allowed Mel and I to go on the trip. It truly is one of my favorite things to do and I hope Mel and I can go back again. God really did a lot of work through our group and within it. I was blessed to be a part of it. I will write more about it later.

Baby idea #6...

"Rain." This lovely idea came straight from Amy and Cody Moxley. They suggested it due to it's obvious correlation with the gloomy weather we are currently experiencing. The present gloominess parallels their feelings over the fact that Melissa and I are going to keep the baby's name a secret until he or she is born. Amy also noted that my other name choices and explanations came across as ornery, and, well, arrogant. I have to disagree. It is not arrogant to say that my future child will excel in life, be admired by his or her peers and will likely have a multitude of nicknames and songs written about him or her. It is factual. If we were to choose Rain as our child's name I would definitely dedicate it to actor, Rainn Wilson, aka, Dwight Schrute. His work on The Office is admirable enough to warrant such a name dedication.

For a nickname, we could use the ever-popular, Rain-bo. This name would be in reference to God's promise to mankind (I actually talked about this in Middle School yesterday morning, as we continue on our journey through the book of Genesis). This nickname could help reestablish the true meaning of the rainbow and help take the focus off of the current slaughtering of the symbol. "So socially aware will young Rain-bo be." (Yoda said that to me in a dream once)

Speaking of Amy...I dug this treasure of a video up from my collection this weekend. It is rather embarrassing, both for her and myself. This was shot in 1997, at the beginning of our Sophomore year. Melissa Conley (currently Bowen) is filming. Mel and I weren't even dating at the time, let alone married, which makes Amy's immature comment at the end all the more funny.

I got up with John at 5:30 today to film him pick kids up in the school bus. This is quite the affair. It takes about an hour an a half to pick all of the kids up. I got some okay shots but I was half asleep.
Melissa woke up with me at 5:30. However, she did not intend to. She had a bloody nose. She is recovering though. In a little bit we will be joining the kindergarten class to decorate cookies. Should be funny. Melissa went to observe the junior class that she will be subbing for tomorrow. Kinda funny...On my way home from the airport with John and a girl named Megan, they told me that Mel would be subbing for Megan's j-hi class on Tuesday. They asked me if I thought Mel would mind. I said that I didn't think so. They said good because Megan already booked a flight for early Tuesday and they were counting on Mel to sub. I did inform them that Melissa was a kindergarten teacher, not a junior high teacher as they previously thought. Kinda funny. Already said that.
We are hoping the weather stays nice so that our flights are not delayed on Wednesday. We will be leaving the school at 3:30am in order to get to the airport on time. Awesome.
